Christmas Carol Service 2024
Celebrate the joy and wonder of Christ's birth with our annual Christmas Carol Service, featuring the renowned St. Paul's Seminary Choir performing traditional European carols alongside beautiful Ugandan Christmas songs. This festive evening of music, prayer, and community celebration welcomes families, parishioners, and friends to share in the Christmas spirit.
Join us for an enchanting evening of Christmas music and celebration as the St. Paul's Seminary Choir presents our annual Christmas Carol Service. This beloved tradition brings together the seminary community, local parishes, and friends from across the region for a joyful celebration of Christ's birth.
Under the direction of Mr. Charles Mugisha, our talented choir will perform a carefully curated selection of Christmas carols that blend the universal joy of Christ's birth with the rich musical traditions of Uganda. The evening will feature both traditional European carols such as "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and "Silent Night," as well as beautiful Ugandan Christmas compositions in local languages.
The program includes:
- Opening procession with "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"
- Traditional English carols with full choir and organ accompaniment
- Solo performances by seminarian soloists
- Ugandan Christmas songs featuring traditional instruments
- Congregational singing of beloved Christmas hymns
- Scripture readings from the Nativity story
- Closing benediction with "Silent Night" by candlelight
The seminary chapel will be beautifully decorated for the season with a nativity scene, Christmas trees, and festive lighting that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for worship and celebration. The evening begins with a brief welcome and orientation about the musical selections to be performed.
Following the service, all guests are invited to the seminary hall for traditional Ugandan Christmas refreshments, including mandazi, chapati, roasted groundnuts, and warm beverages. This provides an opportunity for fellowship and conversation with seminarians, faculty, and other guests.
Children are especially welcome and will receive small Christmas gifts prepared by the seminarians. Families are encouraged to bring elderly relatives and neighbors who might appreciate this opportunity for community celebration during the Christmas season.
This event is free and open to the public, though freewill offerings will be accepted to support the seminary's music program and instruments. Come and experience the true meaning of Christmas through music, prayer, and Christian fellowship in our beautiful seminary community.
