Lenten Retreat 2025
A transformative three-day silent retreat for all seminarians during the holy season of Lent. This intensive spiritual experience includes daily Mass, extended periods of prayer and meditation, conferences on spiritual topics, and opportunities for personal reflection and sacramental reconciliation in preparation for the celebration of Easter.
As we journey through the sacred season of Lent, all seminarians are invited to participate in our annual three-day silent retreat at the Seminary Retreat House. This intensive spiritual experience is designed to deepen our relationship with Christ and prepare our hearts for the celebration of His Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
The retreat will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael Ssekamatte, a renowned spiritual director and author of several works on priestly spirituality. Fr. Ssekamatte brings decades of experience in seminary formation and has guided countless retreats for priests and seminarians across East Africa.
The retreat schedule includes:
- Daily celebration of the Eucharist with extended meditation
- Four spiritual conferences on themes of conversion, prayer, service, and hope
- Extended periods of silent prayer and personal reflection
- Opportunities for individual spiritual direction
- Communal praying of the Liturgy of the Hours
- Stations of the Cross on Friday evening
- Sacrament of Reconciliation available throughout
The retreat emphasizes silence as a means of creating space for God to speak to our hearts. Participants are encouraged to set aside all electronic devices and external distractions to fully embrace this opportunity for spiritual renewal and growth.
Accommodations are provided in the peaceful retreat house, surrounded by gardens and natural beauty that inspire contemplation. Simple, nutritious meals will be served in silence, allowing participants to maintain the reflective atmosphere throughout their stay.
This retreat is mandatory for all seminarians as part of their spiritual formation program. However, it is not merely an obligation but a gift—an opportunity to encounter Christ more deeply and to be transformed by His love and mercy.
We ask for your prayers for all participants, that they may open their hearts to receive the graces God wishes to pour out upon them during these sacred days of reflection and renewal.
